Many people wonder what is Introspective Hypnosis? Exactly???? Introspective hypnosis is a method that combines spirituality, Ericksonian hypnosis and dynamics of forgiveness for changes in behaviour and psychosomatic responses of relief in the patient. It is used in treatment of phobias, fear, sadness, anxiety, anorexia, bulimia, low self-esteem, insecurity, complex, migraine, obesity, obsessions, allergies and addictions.
Aurelio Mejia Clinical Hypnosis has a healing purpose and requires dialogue with the patient during the process. He is aware of what he says and does, listening to the sounds of the environment and can decide when to leave the hypnotic trance, since he is not asleep or unconscious.
Introspective Hypnosis & Powers of the mind
With Introspective Hypnosis it is relatively easy to produce phenomena which go beyond what we could call normal such as telepathy, that is, to grasp what a particular person is thinking, whether they are near or thousands of kilometres away. It is also easy for the hypnotized to set the state of health or illness of his own body or someone else’s, as if he has the gift of insight (Edgar Cayce)
They are also unexplainable, from the point of view of traditional psychology, cases of extra-cerebral memory, in which the hypnotized can remember alleged past lives, and even speak in languages that he is not supposed to know; this phenomenon is called xenoglossy. Why does it happen? Probably because during hypnotic state our mind operates under different parameters than commonly understood as space/time.
Role reversal with another absent person (think, respond and act as the other) is surprising in hypnosis. We have received testimonies from some cases in which forgiveness therapy was done using the role reversal technique and as a result of this dialogue between the patient and the absent person there was a positive change of behaviour in both subjects.
Introspective Hypnosis for Obesity, Anorexia, Bulimia, Cigarettes, Alcohol, and drugs
Regarding addictions there are many factors to be considered in therapy. 1. What motivates the addiction? 2. Repeated intake creates a habit. 3. Habit generates organic dependency or a biological response to intake toxics. Hypnosis is a tool that quickly addresses the psychological factors but the organic factor depends on each individual and the level of affectation.
There may be psychological factors of genetic inheritance, of alleged past lives (in a remote past, for example, he did not have food to eat) or unconscious programming from childhood when his family called him “how cute is this chubby”. “What do you want to eat my fatty little one?” When a child leaves food on the plate, because his body has made normal fullness signals, we suggest him to ignore that, we encourage him to keep eating, for him to leave nothing, because “here there are no chickens” or “there are starving children in Africa”. And to reinforce, we say, “Eat this spoonful for grandma… and this one for mom,” as if eating were a manifestation of affection. And then we complain about the child being fat! Therefore, treatment for obesity, smoking, alcohol or drugs, may require more than one session, although in many cases just one is enough.
Found and healed the cause of obesity, for example, we work upon the effects to reduce the desire to overeat and thus reduce the size of the adipocyte cells, which are storing energy as fat. Anorexia (not wanting to eat) or bulimia (eating but then vomiting to prevent weight gain), most likely have psychological origin and are relatively easy to address with regressive hypnosis and mental reprogramming, healing the causes through forgiveness and acceptance. It is suggested to the subject under hypnosis something like this: “From now on you love infinitely your body, and gladly eat what is essential for each cell to be nourish as it should be”.
The chewing gum diet. Many obese people swallow instead of eating. They chew very well a chewing gum until they get the last feeling of sweetness or mint flavour, but do not do the same with food. Good digestion starts in the mouth, chewing food thoroughly and properly mixing it with saliva enzymes. I invite you all to practice the chewing gum diet: chewing and savouring every bite of food to sense all flavours, and then let it pass to the stomach. It improves digestion and heals colon problems.
The human body operates by stimulus-response: Mind-Body connection
The mind has the ability to think, imagine, remember or create. And it can also combine the above elements to create an imagined memory that makes it think that is true, which can set a state of hallucination or schizophrenia. When is it an experience of something real that happened and when is something imagined? Regarding therapy, no matter what it is, if the subject’s mind does it that way to achieve what it wants.
We have a material body that we can see, touch, smell and weigh out which is controlled by thoughts, something invisible that nobody could ever touch, smell or weigh but no one would dare deny its existence. Since mankind can remember, he has realized that thoughts act on the body. “I think, therefore I am”, said the philosopher Descartes. The Roman poet Juvenal said in the early second century something like “healthy mind in a healthy body”. Communication between the thoughts and the body is made by the brain. Psychology is the science of the action of thoughts.
And, on what thoughts depend on? Here speculation starts. The Greek philosopher Plato felt that the soul is the principle that animates the bodies of living beings, that gives them life and movement. Jesuit priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin poses his theory of the Noosphere (sphere of thought), the psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung refers to it as the Collective Unconscious, others call it Akashic Records. Many phenomena seem to prove that we have a higher self that controls thoughts, and the same as thoughts, it is also invisible.
Since ancient time people speak of another invisible dimension or heaven, in which the spirits are located, which can produce phenomena of apparitions, revelations, ghosts, sense of presence, etc. In the Tibetan Book of the Dead is called bardo to an intermediate state of existence between two successive lives between death and rebirth. Assuming this is so, the spirit generates thoughts that control the mental operations of the brain and through it, also acts on the body, causing illnesses or healing. You can also communicate with your loved ones of the material plane; this is known as revelations or mediumistic communications.
It is not the memories themselves that affect us. What makes us feel good or bad are the emotions we have linked to memories. The senses send to the brain by way of electrical impulses and biochemical signals the information that we are receiving when we see, touch and smell. The brain generates an image of the real event that is happening and produces a specific response for each physical or psychological stimulus we receive, increasing the heart rate, stimulating the leg muscles to run, producing sweat or tremor. If we see, for example, that a close family member dies in an accident, sadness distresses us, we cry and we may even faint.
Assuming many years have passed, and we smell or hear something that also marked us on the day of the accident, the brain can make an unconscious association, it brings the virtual image from memory and produces the same response, no matter how long has passed: increases heart rate, stimulates leg muscles, produces sweat or tremor. Memories cause the brain to activate the hypothalamus and pituitary to reproduce emotional states of joy or sadness. When we forgive something, it is not erased from the memory, but it is freed from the emotion that we have associated with it, and in this way it stops affecting us.
By simple hypnotic suggestion, Introspective Hypnosis, the mind can make us experience the sensation of cold or heat, produce marks, scratches or blisters on the skin without having touched a hot or sharp object, relieve asthma, impotence, pain, phobias, neurosis, anxiety, depression , anorexia (refusing to eat for psychological reasons), numbing parts of the body to allow surgical operations without anesthesia, and even controlling the sympathetic nervous system to close blood vessels and stop the flow of blood from a wound.
Every effect has a cause
Our body produces a specific response for each physical or psychological stimulus it receives. For example, if a subject hears on the radio that the winning number of the lottery ticket is the same as the one he has in his hand, he will overflow with joy and will jump like crazy. If he sees that one of the victims in an accident is his close relative, he will be filled of sadness, will cry and may even faint. The same answer is given although the cause of the stimulus happened many years ago, because the person projects and visualizes it in his mental screen, so the brain responds as if such things were real, thus producing emotional states of joy or sadness.
Richard Bandler and John Grinder, Americans, based on the experiences of clinical hypnosis of Milton Erickson, called NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) which is a model of interpersonal communication to generate changes in mental and emotional behaviour, in which can be compared the human behaviour to a computer. The software that will program what we will get, is the language or way of expressing ourselves. Speak and think positively. If you think you can accomplish something, and you project it on your mental screen, you will succeed sooner or later. We believe that this is the faith that Jesus talked about, when he said: “Your faith has healed you, go and do not tell anyone”
The hypothalamus, located in the brain stem, is not a fixed structure that can be defined anatomically, but, together with the pituitary gland, controls the operation of most physiological processes such as body temperature, the water metabolism, regulates appetite, respiratory and vascular (vasodilation or vasoconstriction, cardiac, digestive, etc.) functions. It also regulates sleep and is the centre where emotional manifestations somatise. To do so, it secretes hormones that travel through the bloodstream carrying chemical orders to make each organic function. And since the suggestions are processed by the brain and hypothalamus, one can understand the healing of physical and mental illnesses.
